The origins of the Housing Justice Convergence was a survey, under the direction of SEIZE (Solidarity Economy Incubation for Zero Emissions), which was distributed to 120 housing groups advocating for unhoused and underhoused communities across Canada. With responses from 60 groups from nearly every province in Canada, the report From Crisis to Consensus revealed the data concerning the priorities and concerns of advocates and organizers facing the realities of the housing crisis on the ground. These concerns, visions for new policy frameworks, and current needs across Canada, are presented in stark relief against current state-led initiatives and priorities.

The outflow of 2024’s report was a gathering of nearly 300 housing justice advocates, including tenants, artists, researchers, and organizers from across Canada, hosted between March 7-9, 2025 in Tiohtià:ke // Montréal, QC (at Concordia University).

The Housing Justice Convergence led to the creation of a tenant organizing fund, which to date has disbursed over $20,000 to support grassroots organizing efforts across the country.

In April of 2026, Stefan Christoff published a zine, Voices of Housing Justice, featuring interviews, panel discussions, and poetry from the Housing Justice Convergence. Sample video and images are provided below; for more information and archival material, please follow the links included above.
